In a transformative move to strengthen the organ donation and transplantation system across Texas,
Texas Organ Sharing Alliance(TOSA) and Southwest Transplant Alliance (STA) are joining forces by consolidating their operations under a new umbrella organization: the Gift of Life Alliance (GOLA).
The alignment is pending approval from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). If approved, the consolidated enterprise will serve over 18 million people across the State of Texas starting at the beginning of 2026.
This strategic alignment brings together the expertise, resources, and leadership of both organizations to better serve donor families, transplant recipients, and hospital partners across Texas.
Under the new structure, Brad Adams, current President and CEO of STA, will serve as President and CEO of GOLA. Joe Nespral, President and CEO of TOSA, will assume the role of Chief Strategy Officer of GOLA.
Why it matters:
- The proposed consolidation will strengthen services to donors and their families, honor the legacies of both OPOs, and expand opportunities to save and heal lives.
- Each year, we will be positioned together to serve more than8 00donors and their families through the donation process--and save the lives of more than 2,500people waiting for a transplant.
- The combined expertise of both OPOs, based on decades of experience, will come together to ensure donors and transplant recipients alike are protected through the donation process.
- Partners who share our mission will receive the highest levels of support through the combined strength of one unified organization.
