Third Annual Wall of Heroes Dedication Ceremony
3/29/2023
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — March 29, 2023 —Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA), the organ procurement organization that provides organ donation and recovery services for individuals and families in Central and South Texas, will honor and celebrate 280 donor families at the third annual Wall of Heroes Dedication Ceremony.
The ceremony will take place Saturday, April 1 at 3 p.m. at TOSA Headquarters.
The Wall of Heroes pays tribute to the children and adults who gave others a second chance at life through organ donation. Featured on the wall are engraved medals with the donor's first name, initial of last name and date of donation. With five panels, the Wall of Heroes will eventually display over 6,000 donor medals.
The Donor Memorial Garden features eight redbud trees representing the eight lives a single donor can save. The area was designed to ensure every family can see the Wall with the glistening medals that pay homage to donors.
“We're honored to welcome families to our third-annual Wall of Heroes dedication ceremony,” said TOSA President & CEO Joseph Nespral. “Today we have 3,837 medals representing donor heroes. The medals shine brightly as a reminder of the selflessness of our community and the thousands of lives saved over the years. Here their legacies will live on forever.”
In 2022, 280 individuals became organ donors, providing 829 life-saving organs for transplantation, giving hundreds a second chance at life. To learn more about organ donation or to sign up as a life-saving donor, visit TOSA1.org.
