TOSA Celebrates the Generosity of Donors During National Donate Life Month

4/1/2022
Each April, Donate Life America (DLA) leads National Donate Life Month (NDLM), an observance to focus national attention on the need and importance of organ, eye and tissue donation. National Donate Life Month is about the importance of registering your decision to be a donor and honoring deceased and living donors — recognizing that the generosity of donors makes saving lives through transplantation possible.

More than 100,000 people across the country are currently waiting for a life-saving organ transplant and almost 10,000 of them are in Texas. Thousands more people are waiting for life-saving and healing cornea and tissue transplants. Because only 3 in 1,000 people die in a way that allows for organ donation to take place, it is vitally important for everyone to register their life-saving decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor.

“Donate Life Month is the perfect time to reflect on the lives saved thanks to organ donors,” said Texas Organ Sharing Alliance President & CEO Joseph Nespral. “We are honored to help individuals and their families create legacies through organ donation. In 2021, TOSA helped a record 260 donors provide hundreds of organs for transplantation. Because of these heroes, others have a second chance at life.”
