Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (“TOSA,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. TOSA is a federally designated Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) serving Central and South Texas and works in collaboration with the Glenda Dawson Donate Life Texas Organ, Eye and Tissue Donor Registry (“the Registry”). The Registry is operated by Donate Life Texas, Inc. (DLT), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization designated by Texas Health and Safety Code §692A.020.
By using our website, registering with the Registry, or participating in our communication programs, you signify your agreement to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Personal Information
When you interact with TOSA or the Registry, you may provide:
  • Name, mailing address, email address, phone number.
  • Date of birth, gender, ethnicity, place of birth.
  • Identification details such as driver's license or state ID number, last four of SSN, or mother's maiden name (for registry verification).
  • Donor preferences (which organs/tissues you wish to donate and for what purposes).

Health-Related Information
We may collect limited health-related information in compliance with HIPAA, only as necessary to support donation processes.
Site & Digital Usage Information
When you use websites (including www.tosa1.org and www.DonateLifeTexas.org):

  • Create a legal Document of Gift where applicable.

  • Conduct research, produce anonymous reports, and prepare educational materials.
  • Maintain and improve our websites and services.
  • Comply with federal and state laws, including HIPAA and Texas statutes.


3. Text Messaging Program
TOSA offers a text messaging program to provide donor-related updates, reminders, and educational messages.
  • By providing your phone number, you consent to receive recurring messages from TOSA.
  • Message frequency: may vary, typically up to 4 messages per month.
  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.
  • Consent to receive messages is not a condition of donation, registration, or participation.


4. Information Sharing
We will not sell, rent, or market your personal information. We may share information only:
  1. To further your organ, eye, and/or tissue donation.
  2. With trusted service providers, vendors, and contractors who act on our behalf.
  3. With Donate Life Texas, state donor registries, and authorized medical partners as required for registry and donation purposes.
  4. As required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process.
  5. To protect our legal rights, safety, or property.
  6. When you explicitly request or consent.


5. Data Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. However, no system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee complete security.
